Ice Ice Baby

WORKOUT:
8 mile run
45 min weights - shoulders/chest/back
5 min abs
15 min STRETCHING (And lots more STICK time later today.)

How did my knee feel after my run? A++

My extra rest day yesterday and lots of time icing and hanging out with THE STICK, helped a lot. Rolling that baby over my quad muscle, I could FEEL it working. Ouch!
If you haven't been introduced to a Stick, they are amazing. I love to foam roll, but sometimes it is hard to get just the right angle on a muscle and I end up contorting my body into a pretzel on the floor trying to get the right spot. So this is great for that. We have more quality time scheduled together later today.

What we REALLY need to talk about though, is waking up to this, AGAIN!

Dear Month of April,

Please shape up your act. It is supposed to be spring time and lovely outside. If you aren't in the mood for that then thats okay, I get it. But can we stop this snow act? I would rather not finish my marathon next weekend looking like the Abominable Snowman, mmmkay?

Thanks!

Holley

PS> This weather is making my hair really frizzy and that is hard on me.
(Slightly worried face)

We hit up Rubio's last night for some grub.

Ben rolled with the Mesquite Shrimp Burrito and felt pretty good about it.
I got the Fish Especial Tacos with lots of pico de gallo. I love that stuff. I ended up scrapping the tortillas and just eating all the insides. I really just wanted those chips with all the beans and salsa. You can't go wrong with that.
Then we hung out in Barnes & Noble for a while and enjoyed a favorite activity. Looking at books and magazines for free.
I spent time researching our future dog. Still not sure how I feel about the BIG vs SMALL debate. I want one that can run with me but not something that will be too big for being inside. You can see which dogs I am voting for. Of course, I have NEVER had a dog and I am scared I may be getting in over my head.

We saw "The King's Speech" after we had come to no conclusion on a dog breed. They re-released it in PG-13, thank you! We enjoyed it, well done. A nice change of pace from all the comic books and aliens that are taking over the movie world.
Ben doesn't mess around with movie treats. He NEVER sees a movie without any. This guy brings a selection too. Usually my purse is full of about 5 different kinds of candy and a "fun drink" for him. This was a meager spread for him.

I ended the night by doing this some more. I wasn't taking ANY chances. I babied that leg ALL DAY LONG. Turns out that was a pretty good idea.

Blogging is totally ADDICTING! You guys are taking over my life! AH! Who am I kidding though, I am not even trying to hold myself back. It's way to much fun. ;)

I love your comments and am so glad you like seeing the recipes! If you try something I would love to hear about it and how you liked it!

PS. I want to eat my MANGOES right NOW!!! I blew it and accidentally put them in the fridge. They are nowhere near ripe. Tear.

Do you have a Pit Bull or English Bulldog? Tell me why I should chose the one over the other! I know NOTHING about dogs!

What is your favorite movie candy?!
(I brought an apple for myself but totally ended up stealing half of Ben's Sour Patch Kids.)

  4. Oh my gosh! I totally agree, I am addicted to blogging too but I love it!
I'm not sure on the dog issue, I have a pekepoo, so I'm probably not a good source.
Right now my favorite candy is Swedish fish, I have been eating them all day long all the time! lol

  5. haha GOTTA love those mangoes :) if you put them by your bananas and apples they will ripen faster... a little trick I do with them all the time. I need to get a Stick. And sorry, I know NOTHING about dogs :( we have a cat who ACTS like a dog (drinks from the toilet, plays fetch, etc) but no advice here. Maybe next time you will ask for advice for making a smoothie? Im good at that :)

  7. What a bummer about the knee. You are such a trooper though! I think I would have said goodbye to working out for a long while if I were in your situation, but then again, I'm always looking for some excuse to not work out. Let's just say it has never been my forte.

  8. I vote PIT BULL! We have a 6 year old Pittie and he is the love of our lives!! Loveable, Sweet, Intelligent and loyal. He is my running partner. They are a truly misunderstood breed which is heartbreaking.

  9. I love how that bag of pnut m&m's says sharing bag. . . more like MY BAG ONLY!!

Glad your knee decided to take a backseat!

    english bulldogs have LOTS of health problems, so be prepared for giant vet bills and weird rituals that you wouldn't have to do with any other dog! A happy medium would be American Staffordshire Terriers. Look into those (;

  10. I can't believe this weather! But it looks like race day next week will be good for you! yeah!!
And my brother has two pitbulls and they are great dogs...and so loving and they are really good with his girlfriends kids. And they were easy to train for him...though he does call one of them "Roxy" - a retarded dog...so there you go! LOL
    Good luck on choosing!

  12. I just wrote a long comment but it didn't post:(
Anyways, I have an English Bulldog and he is the greatest pooch ever! I can't take him running with me because bulldogs are heat sensitive and he wasn't made to run - but he loves a long walk and running circles in the yard. So if running with a pup is the whole point then a bully isn't the dog...
HOWEVER, if you want a dog that loves to cuddle and to just be around you in general, who makes you laugh and snorts like a grown man then a bulldog is for you!
I want a dog to run with but I wouldn't trade my pooch Winston for anything else.
And it's true, Bulldogs can have health issues but it means that you have to do your homework when searching for a breeder. As well, it doesn't hurt to get pet insurance. We have a great plan that is cheap and covers even hereditary issues.
With pitbulls it's important that you socialize them at a very early age so that they don't have aggression towards other dogs. As well, they need an obedience class and dog training early - as in any time from 8-16 weeks when they start to develop fear, etc. This way by the time they are 16 weeks they will have encountered most things and are better set up to be happy and well behaved. And this is especially important with pitbulls because of the stigma attached to them.
I have a couple pictures of my bulldog on my blog (I only have two posts up so far - I'm new) but if you want to take a look they are there.
Anyway, Good luck! Puppies are the greatest things ever. You'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner...
