WORKOUT:
30 min elliptical
15 min bike
30 min weights - biceps/triceps
15 min abs
40 min rolling with The Stick
Last night I got a sudden urge to go swimming! I threw on my suit and headed to the pool.
Yes I am still taking it easy, but they always talk about how swimming is good physical therapy work so I gave it a shot. Plus, I just really wanted to get out of the house and be ACTIVE. I swam for 45 min and it felt great. Swimming makes me feel long and lean. Maybe it is all that stretching and reaching, or just my imagination. Either way, felt GOOD.
Post swimming I snagged a snack.
Banana, PB, agave sandwich.
I made a 1/2 sandwich, isn't that cute? It was pointless though because after I finished I went right back in the kitchen and made myself the OTHER half of the sandwich and ate that too.
Good intentions.

Yesterday I decided to GO BIG or GO HOME by sporting a HUGE party bun on top of my head.
Why not right?
PARTY! 2 more days after today!

I am growing my hair out. I finally feel like I am getting some length. A little more time (aka- more hair) and this "do" will get even better.

I listen to audio books at work when I can. I have been listening to "The Help" recently. I am almost done and have really liked it. I started reading the actual BOOK a while ago but ended up putting it down when it didn't grab me right away. Really glad I gave it another try. Plus I like the different readers on the audio version that helps me keep the characters straight. I can be a bit of a mindless reader. :)
A little work time snack of apple and pb.
Worky time lunch of salad.
Romaine, chicken, black beans, mandarin oranges, pineapple, water chestnuts, carrots and a few craisins.

After my morning gym time I have been coming home and watching "Chopped" while rolling my legs. It helps me stop looking at the clock and thinking, "How much longer do I have to do this!" How is it that I have PLENTY of motivation to spend hours at the gym or head out the door on a 20 mile run. Easy peasy! But ask me to get off my behind and ice my legs a couple times a day or to remember to roll my legs for more than 5 mins and I am a LAZY slug!
Go figure.
So I started watching Chopped while I roll my legs. Now I just look at all the yummy food that they are making and wish I could taste all the interesting flavors. Ben was a little inspired after watching with me today. He headed straight into the kitchen to whip up something fancy. I will share his creation with you tomorrow.

I saw 2 cute girls at the gym this morning! Janae and Julia! So fun!
Stop by and say hey to them!
Sometimes in my mind I call Janae "Nae-Nae." She doesn't know that, sh!

What shows make you hungry?
Chopped is totally doing it to me. I don't know if this is a good thing. Means I will probably cook fancier food, but I might only be allowed to watch it AFTER I eat lunch.
Do you swim to mix up your workout?
I took a swimming class 2 summers ago so I could complete my first triathlon. I wasn't what you would call a "strong swimmer" prior to that. Not because I was weak but because I had no idea what I was doing. Love being able to go to the pool for an actual "workout" and not just to float around.
yay two days!!! you can do it!!
ReplyDeleteand no, the only time i EVER went in the pool was preggers when I couldnt DO anything else :) otherwise, i hate the pool :(
mmm all that PB makes me so hungry!! you are seriously the cutest girl everrrr
2 more dayyyyyyys!!! that is so awesome and exciting. I cannot wait to hang out with you on Monday for your first official day of NO WORK!! woooo hoooo!
ReplyDeleteand I LOVED seeing you at the gym this morning. please come to pump next week if your leg is feeling better...I think I am addicted to that class officially now! that instructor is GREAT!
pretty much all activities make me hungry...not just food tv shows. haha. I think about food a lot. :)
I am terrified of swimming. but today I decided that SOME day in my life I may try at least a triathlon. ummm yeah. we will see how that goes. it may have just been a moment of weakness. haha. I gotta get better at swimming for this to work out!!
My co-worker read The Help and told me I should read it, that it was very good. I have it on my book list to read at some point! lol
ReplyDeleteAlso I have never watched Chopped but I hear great things about it, I will definitely have to look into this show!
you are adorable! I love the hair. Wish I could do that. I swear, you and Janae are the fashionista's!
ReplyDeleteHang on a second! I have THAT same vest! I love it! You rock in it too!
ReplyDeleteAll that food looks so yummy. It's close to dinner so I'm sitting here salivating at the salad! :)
PB and banana sandwiches are my go-to food too!!
Okay, so reading your blog makes me hungry - I want to eat my screen after seeing your salad!!
ReplyDeleteCute party bun - I can *not* pull that off!
CUTE hair! I wish I knew how to do that to mine, but alas, I am clueless. I think maybe my hair might be too thick?!
ReplyDeleteI've heard The Help is good...it's on my list to read.
Ace of Cakes always without fail makes me want to eat cake! It is a bad thing!
ReplyDeleteI used to swim all the time growing up because my parents had a pool. I live in NY now and public pools freak me out a little. I miss swimming tho, I just need to join a gym with a pool already ;)
Sarah
Hi! saw you mentioned in Janae's blog and wanted to come check yours out since we have the same name!
ReplyDelete"The Best Thing I Ever Ate" always makes me SO hugry! And I used to be a competative swimmer but now just swim when I get the urge to and to break up my routine (starting to love it again :) )
Love your bun, so cute!
ReplyDeleteI watch TV when I foam roll and it make the time fly!
Chopped is awesome, but I like Top Chef even more!
:)
I loved "The Help". What a fantastic story.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about foam rolling to Chopped. Isn't each segment about 20 minutes? Rolling for one segment would be a huge accomplishment for me.
oh my gosh, your hair is so cute in the bun! You are makin' me miss my long hair :( Cute blog here, newest follower of yours!!! Can't wait to read more and read more about your workouts!
ReplyDeletehttp://letsmoveitmommas.blogspot.com
I love your outfit!!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way with foam rolling - seriously the thing I dread the most after a long run is the foam rolling. Run a half marathon? No problem. Foam roll? I'll do anything to get out of it! But you're right - watching tv while doing it is a good distraction and makes it a bit more bearable.
I loved The Help. I read the book, but most of my family listened. They all said how great the readers were. I used to make fun of my dad for listening to books on tape while running but now I find myself doing the same thing. Sometimes I focus better when my body is engaged in activity.
ReplyDeleteWay cute hair! I totally do the 1/2 sandwhich thing and then always go back and make the second half. ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you to be done with work and hope you are doing something extra fun to celebrate. Have a great day! :)
I think I'm the only person left that doesn't know how to swim!!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally jealous of your hairdos );
The hair is super cute - love it!
